White House Warns Baghdad: Iraqi Government Must Act More Cautiously

White House warning to Baghdad: The Iraqi government must act with greater vigilance

The White House warned Baghdad to more swiftly confront the threats from Iranian-backed militias present in Iraq.

This warning comes as senior Iraqi officials have protested against recent U.S. attacks in Iraq. The recent U.S. attacks were in response to the killing of three American soldiers by Iranian-backed forces in Iraq.

John Kirby, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, said on Sunday that the Iraqi government must act with greater vigilance to end the threats from Iranian-backed militias that have attacked U.S. military positions.

Iranian-backed militias in Iraq have carried out at least 165 attacks against American forces since the start of the Gaza war.
