Why don’t ATMs have cash?

The shortage and lack of cash in ATMs, especially towards the end of the year and during times of increased public purchases, has created difficulties for people. Seyyed Ehsan Khandouzi mentioned in this regard that there are reports of a shortage of banknotes being dispensed by ATMs. It should be noted that the share of banknotes in economic transactions is less than 2 or 3 percent, and most transactions in the country are conducted without the need for banknotes, as people have adapted their economic culture to new technology and have minimal need for cash. The majority of people’s needs are met through non-cash payment systems. Reports have also reached the government about the failure of ATMs to dispense cash. The Central Bank’s plan is to help resolve this issue.
