Why was Leila Hosseinzadeh arrested?
Reports from Iran indicate that Leila Hosseinzadeh, a student activist, was arrested by security forces yesterday in front of her home in Tehran and transferred to an unknown location.
It has been stated on social media that this arrest involved 10 officers and was accompanied by severe beating of Ms. Hosseinzadeh.
Leila Hosseinzadeh is a student at the University of Tehran and was among those arrested during the protests in December 2017. She was sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeal on charges of assembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security.
She served part of her sentence in prison and was released due to being unable to endure the punishment because of a serious illness.
It is worth mentioning that this student activist was also arrested last December during a trip to Shiraz and was subsequently transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
