Widespread protests by Jordanians against rising fuel prices
Tens of thousands of people in Jordan marched in various cities on Friday, December 16, protesting against the rising cost of fuel and essential goods.
According to Reuters and Al Jazeera, the nationwide protests took place a day after a truck drivers’ strike expanded in the southern city of Ma’an.
During Thursday night’s events in Ma’an, which were accompanied by violence, a police officer was killed, and young people attacked government property and urban facilities. The officer who was killed was the deputy police chief of the city.
