The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin supervised the execution of strategic nuclear force exercises on Wednesday, October 30.
In images released by the Kremlin, Putin is seen in the presidential command room overseeing the test launch of intercontinental missiles from land, sea, and air.
In this exercise, a Yars intercontinental missile was launched from the Plesetsk space base towards the Kura test site in the Kamchatka region.
Additionally, the Bryansk nuclear submarine launched a Sineva ballistic missile in the Barents Sea, and Tu-95MS long-range bombers tested air-launched cruise missiles.
The Kremlin statement mentioned that all objectives of this training exercise were successfully achieved.
Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, stated that the purpose of this exercise was to practice the process of authorization and deployment of nuclear weapons.
Putin had also supervised similar strategic nuclear force exercises in October 2023 and October 2024.
