Women’s Attendance at Azadi Stadium with Maximum Considerations

The Deputy for Women’s Sports Development at the Ministry of Sports and Youth has stated that, for now, female spectators can attend Azadi Stadium, but for stadiums in other cities, conditions must be prepared and frameworks adhered to.

Maryam Kazemipour said today that with the efforts we made, women will be present at Azadi Stadium with maximum considerations. I hope in the not-too-distant future, we will have a suitable special section for women to enjoy football in complete peace.

She stated that efforts have been made to provide welfare requirements such as special entrance doors and vehicles to transport women to the stands.

However, she did not provide any statistics regarding the capacity for women’s attendance at the stadium.

This policy also led to widespread protests from Iranian women, but this year, for the first time in the Iranian Premier League, women were allowed, albeit in limited numbers, to attend Azadi Stadium to watch a football match in the month of Shahrivar.
