Leaders from various countries around the world congratulated Sanae Takaichi, the Prime Minister of Japan, on her decisive victory in the country’s recent elections.
According to post-election surveys, the ruling coalition led by her has managed to secure about two-thirds of the seats in Japan’s lower house of parliament, a result that significantly strengthens the Prime Minister’s political position.
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, described Takaichi’s decision to hold early elections as bold and smart. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, also welcomed the election results and congratulated her on her victory.
This victory gives Sanae Takaichi more freedom to advance her agenda. She had previously promised to increase Japan’s defense spending, tighten immigration policies, and put a review of the country’s pacifist constitution on the agenda.
