Yvette Cooper: Our companies and citizens should not engage in economic activities in Israeli settlements

Yvette Cooper, the UK Foreign Secretary, announced that British citizens and companies should not engage in economic or financial activities in Israeli settlements located in the occupied West Bank.

She stated in Parliament that the UK government has tightened the guidelines on business risks to clearly indicate that any economic activity in Israeli settlements, which are considered illegal under international law, should not take place.

Cooper added that we believe settler groups prone to violence should not profit from lands they have seized from Palestinians.

The UK Foreign Secretary also criticized what she called the lack of sufficient accountability for settler violence and said that Israeli government condemnations without practical actions will not have the necessary impact and credibility.
