Zarghami: Friday prayer leaders should speak on national issues

Ezzatollah Zarghami, appearing on a television program, referenced a quote from the Prophet of Islam saying, ‘Two groups have broken my back: the disrespectful scholar and the ignorant worshipper,’ and added, ‘Today I better understand what this means.’

Criticizing some of the Friday prayer sermons, he called for a national perspective in official platforms and said, ‘When the leader says your perspective should become national, the brothers in the Friday Prayer Council must take this issue seriously.’

Zarghami also said that speakers before the sermon should speak on national issues and the slogans should not be divisive.
