Zarif says Trump claims Iranians outsmarted John Kerry
Mohammad Javad Zarif, the former strategic deputy of Masoud Pezeshkian and former Foreign Minister, said on Thursday, May 1st, at the National Persian Gulf Day ceremony, that negotiations with the United States by the Islamic Republic are not a threat but a tool to advance national interests.
The Foreign Minister of the Rouhani administration and architect of the JCPOA, while simultaneously criticizing the United States and his former deputy Abbas Araghchi about the 2015 nuclear agreement, said Trump had claimed that Iranians outsmarted John Kerry in negotiations. Even other officials like Whitaker believed the JCPOA was in favor of Iran.
Following Donald Trump, Steve Whitaker, and Abbas Araghchi have also recently criticized the JCPOA from different perspectives and called for moving beyond it.
