Zelensky: Putin’s goal of division failed
Amid European security and defense concerns following the increasing likelihood of Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections, European leaders met today in the UK, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also in attendance.
The main focus of the European leaders’ meeting is expected to be the war in Ukraine.
Mr. Zelensky told the leaders present at the meeting that they have maintained unity in Europe, which means Vladimir Putin has failed in his primary goal of creating division in Europe.
The European Political Community meeting will discuss how to strengthen defense, ensure energy security, and make Europe’s economy, politics, and borders more resilient.
Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the UK, is hosting this summit and aims to reset his country’s relations with the continent.
In his opening speech, Mr. Starmer promised to strengthen the UK’s relations with the European Union.
About 50 European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel, are attending the summit.
