Zibakalam: What Students Want is the Same Thing Iranians Have Wanted for Centuries

Zibakalam said the desires of the students are the same as what the people of Iran have wanted for centuries.

Sadegh Zibakalam, a university professor, said the students’ demands are the same as those of society: demands for democracy, free elections, the release of political prisoners, the freedom to choose attire, and freedom of the press, which is what a significant portion of the Iranian people have wanted for centuries.

My advice to students and young people, especially those born in the 2000s, is to remember that while social media is great and has been revolutionary, you should not neglect books and reading alongside it.

During his student years, Zibakalam was an idealist and believed that if the monarchy was overthrown, Iran would become a paradise.

Our generation was somewhat naive but very hopeful, whereas the current generation is not naive but unfortunately is hopeless.
