A notification from the Islamic Azad University regarding compulsory hijab: We are professors, not clerics

The notification from the Islamic Azad University regarding compulsory hijab is addressed to our professors, not the clergy.

In continuation of the government’s strict measures to enforce compulsory hijab, the General Directorate of Security of the Islamic Azad University has requested in the notifications that professors seriously manage the phenomenon of discovering hijab in their classrooms. The professors have been warned in these notifications that they are responsible for the presence of students without hijab in their classes.

This notification is based on the Ministry of Science’s guidelines on depriving students without hijab of receiving student services. It has been issued by Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, the president of the Islamic Azad University, as well as the central organization of this university in this regard.

Previously, the Ministry of Education also announced on Tuesday, 14th of Farvardin (April 3rd) that it will be excused from providing educational services to a few students who do not comply with the dress code in schools.

The judicial and law enforcement measures of the Islamic Republic authorities regarding hijab have intensified in Farvardin month (March-April), and many Friday prayer leaders, senior officials, and even the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic have emphasized the confrontation with individuals who refrain from observing compulsory hijab.
