Afghanistan seeks to increase trade with Kazakhstan
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, who has traveled to Kabul, has met with Taliban officials. The Taliban has requested an increase in trade and transit between the two countries, reaching up to $3 billion.
Mr. Serik Makashimov held talks in Kabul today with Amir Khan Mateqi, the Foreign Minister, and Nuraldeen Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Taliban, as well as Afghan traders.
Amir Khan Mateqi has called for investment from Kazakhstan in Afghanistan and stated that the trade volume between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan has increased in the past year, reaching $900 million.
He has requested facilitation in issuing visas for Afghan traders by Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstan’s authorities have participated in a meeting with dozens of traders and investors from both sides.
The Taliban Ministry of Trade states that in this meeting, discussions have taken place to enhance the level of trade between the two countries to $3 billion, including the creation of transit infrastructure such as railway connections between regions and investment in Afghan mines.
