Ukraine receives its first shipment of cluster bombs from the United States
Two days after the NATO summit focused on discussing security threats from Russia, a senior Ukrainian army commander confirmed on Friday, July 22 that his country has received its first shipment of cluster bombs from the United States.
General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, the commander of operations for the Joint Forces of Ukraine, stated in an interview with the Sianan TV network that the army has not yet used these bombs, which can fundamentally change the conditions of war.
He added that Ukraine will not use these bombs in non-military areas.
The confirmation of the arrival of the first shipment of cluster bombs in Ukraine comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky left the two-day NATO summit in Vilnius this week without achieving his main goal of Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
Before Mr. Zelensky returned to Kyiv, NATO leaders reassured him that Ukraine will have a place in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the future.
