Statement by a group of filmmakers regarding the identification of the perpetrators of poisonings

A group of Iranian filmmakers and lawyers have issued statements calling for the identification of those responsible for poisoning students.

The statement highlights deliberate poisonings in Iranian schools that started in Azar 1401 (November/December 2022) in Qom and have poisoned over 13,000 people by the end of the year.

The signatories have stated that while every act of protest is not hidden from the eyes of oppressive forces, the disregard for discovering the perpetrators of these crimes is part of the hidden agenda of mafia-like power structures.

It seems that this act is a form of threat and revenge against young girls and teenagers who have ended their struggle against compulsory hijab and demanded women’s rights in the women’s liberation movement.

Among the signatories of this statement are Giti Pourfazel, Jafar Panahi, Katayoun Riahi, Nasrin Sotoudeh, and Mehrangiz Kar.
