Spying on Embassy Employees in Kyiv

Espionage of embassy employees in Kyiv

Hackers suspected of having connections with Russia’s foreign intelligence service deceived dozens of diplomats working in foreign embassies in Ukraine by advertising a fake sale of a cheap BMW car.

Reuters, citing data from a cybersecurity company, has reported that this action was taken with the aim of infiltrating the computers of foreign embassy employees in Ukraine.

Analysts at Unit 42, the research division of the American IT company Palo Alto Networks, have referred to an extensive espionage activity in this report, targeting diplomats in at least 22 out of 80 foreign missions in the capital of Ukraine.
