Joseph Borrell: Military solution is not the answer to the Sudan crisis.
The European Union has urged the international community to make utmost efforts to achieve a political solution in Sudan.
Joseph Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, stated that he has been in contact with the commanders of the two military forces involved in the war in Sudan, clarifying that the Sudan crisis cannot be resolved through military means.
Mr. Borrell mentioned that the EU ambassador to Sudan is still present in the country, although not in Khartoum.
The war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces militia is intensifying in various parts of Sudan, particularly in Khartoum.
Many countries are working to evacuate their diplomats and citizens from Sudan. Although many have already left the country, a significant number are still stranded there and have been advised to stay wherever they are for now.
Hundreds have been killed and thousands injured in the recent week-long war, with both sides launching airstrikes and tank attacks on positions and facilities.
