Kayhan Newspaper’s Attack on Gholamhossein Karbaschi
Kayhan newspaper has targeted Gholamhossein Karbaschi by reviewing his recent statements in which he criticized the country’s economic situation and expressed concern for people’s livelihoods. They asked him with what authority he speaks about people’s livelihoods.
Kayhan states that the author of the above article, Gholamhossein Karbaschi, is the creator of institutionalized corruption within the country’s political structure. In 1998, Karbaschi, along with several of his deputies and district mayors in Tehran, was arrested and interrogated. The trial sessions of Karbaschi were broadcasted live on television every night.
The trial of Gholamhossein Karbaschi, as the mayor of Tehran, and about 104 other defendants in the embezzlement case within the municipality, consisting of high-ranking and middle-ranking municipal officials and contractors, was conducted in eight sessions.
