We requested the spokesperson of the judiciary to transfer Assadollah Assadi

We have requested the transfer of Assadollah Assadi, the spokesperson of the Judiciary has said.

Masoud Sataeshi, the spokesperson of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that Tehran has officially requested the transfer of Assadollah Assadi, the convicted diplomat, to Belgium.

Mr. Sataeshi said that a transfer agreement for prisoners has been concluded between Iran and Belgium, and the documents have been transferred. Both parties can proceed with the transfer of the convicts. The other party had requested it, and we have also requested it.

Assadollah Assadi, one of the senior diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the embassy of this country in Austria, has been sentenced to prison in Belgium on charges of planning and attempting to bomb in France. He is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in one of the prisons in Belgium.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Belgium approved a prisoner transfer agreement between the two countries in their respective parliaments last year.
