Iran says it will soon send a delegation to reopen its embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Naser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has stated that a technical delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived in Tehran on Sunday to discuss the conditions and preparations for reopening the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad.

The two countries recently reached an agreement to restore their diplomatic relations after seven years. The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia met last week in China, facilitated by the country.

Iran says it is currently preparing the grounds for reopening its embassy, consulate, and its representation in Jeddah in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

After the attack on the Saudi embassy in 2015, Saudi officials completely severed their political and economic ties with Iran.
