The Deputy Minister of Health has stated that the Omicron variant is the cause of the increase in COVID-19 cases.
Saeed Karimi, the Deputy Minister of Health in Iran, has said that a sub-variant of the Omicron strain is the main factor behind the rise in COVID-19 infections.
Mr. Karimi has stated that this sub-variant was not previously present in Iran and it is the same strain that has caused widespread outbreaks in Europe and America.
According to him, there are currently around 13,000 daily visits to healthcare centers by individuals with respiratory symptoms and cold-like symptoms.
The Deputy Minister of Health in Iran has said that the fatality rate of this sub-variant is not higher than other strains, but when a highly transmissible strain is present, those who are vulnerable and become infected may lose their lives.
He advised individuals with underlying health conditions to take self-care measures, wear masks in enclosed spaces, maintain physical distancing, and follow hygiene guidelines.
