The Deputy Head of the Social Commission of the Parliament will review the proposal to have Fridays off

The bill to close on Fridays is being reviewed by the Deputy Head of the Social Commission of the Parliament.

Vali Esmaeili, the Deputy Head of the Social Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, has stated to Tasnim News Agency that the review of the amendment to Article 87 of the Law on the Management of Public Services regarding changes in working hours and the closure of Fridays will begin with the presence of officials from the Administrative and Recruitment Organization, the Planning and Budget Organization, the Court of Accounts, and experts from the Parliamentary Research Center.

What does Article 87 of the Law on the Management of Public Services say?

The working hours of government employees are forty-four hours per week, and the arrangement and regulation of office hours are determined by the proposal of the organization and the approval of the Council of Ministers. Changes in the working hours of employees, in necessary cases, are made in coordination with the relevant authority, while observing the mentioned limit.

The government, under Ibrahim Raisi, has now proposed to change this article as follows: the working hours of government employees will be forty-two hours and thirty minutes per week, and the arrangement and regulation of office hours will be determined by the proposal of the country’s Administrative and Recruitment Organization and the approval of the Council of Ministers.
