A member of the Health Commission warns that the number of scarce or rare drugs is increasing.
Hamayun Samehi, a member of the Health Commission in the parliament, said in an interview with ILNA that our prediction is that in the coming months, not only will there be a problem with drugs, but also the problems with medical equipment will intensify.
He stated that currently there is a high number of scarce or rare drugs, and most of these drugs are essential and vital in the treatment of patients, but unfortunately they have become scarce, exacerbating the issue.
When asked about who is responsible for these issues, he said we cannot blame the Ministry of Health alone. The country’s economic situation and the decisions made by the government and the Planning and Budget Organization in formulating the budget plan have all contributed to these problems.
In November of last year, due to severe drug shortages and a significant increase in their prices, the parliament summoned the Minister of Health in Iran.
Previously, the authorities of the Islamic Republic attributed the drug shortage to the consequences of US sanctions, but recently, the drug importers’ union announced that the US has not imposed sanctions on drugs and our financial mechanism is limited.
