20% of the country’s electricity production from nuclear energy
While official and international statistics indicate that nuclear power accounts for half a percent of Iran’s electricity production, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, emphasizing the government’s plan to produce 20% of the country’s electricity through nuclear energy, has claimed that we have learned all the nuclear know-how.
Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, further stated that all the chapters of atomic energy are not carried out by a single country alone, and this chain is divided among countries and companies. However, with cooperation and self-reliance, we have managed, up to now, to carry out everything from mining exploration and extraction to producing yellowcake and fuel for power plants by Iranian forces.
These statements by the official come as Iran’s first nuclear power plant, Bushehr, was launched by the Russians after two decades of delay, and Russia has also delayed the start of new reactor construction for Iran for a decade.
Additionally, BP company statistics indicate that in 2021, only half a percent of Iran’s electricity production was from nuclear energy.
