A 20% Surge in Mobile Phone Prices Within a Week
Following the government’s decision to ban the import of iPhone 14 and the dollar rate surpassing 54,000 tomans, the price of various mobile phones in Iran has increased between 500,000 tomans to 20 million tomans within a week.
In its Saturday, February 25th issue, Etemad newspaper reported on the astronomical surge in mobile phone prices within a week. In the past week, the price of the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB increased by 20 million tomans in the mobile market. This phone, which was sold for 100 million tomans on February 16th, became 20 million tomans more expensive within a week, reaching 120 million tomans by Thursday, February 23rd.
The price of the iPhone 13 also increased within a week from 42.5 million tomans to at least 50 million tomans, indicating that the base version of the iPhone 13 has become about 7 million tomans more expensive in Iran in seven days. Additionally, the price of the iPhone 13 256GB version increased by 4 million tomans during this period, rising from around 49 million tomans to 53 million tomans.
