Abbas Abdi: A Major Economic Disaster is on the Way
At the beginning of the new government’s term, Abbas Abdi released an unofficial report that included a table estimating the status of some important economic indicators from the year 2021 to the end of 2027 in two different scenarios.
The first scenario involved the lifting of sanctions or, in other words, the resolution of the JCPOA, and the second scenario was the continuation of the current situation.
This table appears to be optimistic because it has not accounted for unexpected events and occurrences in its calculations.
The lack of predicted economic growth in 2027 and prior years might imply negative growth, especially since it was previously announced that investment in the country is even less than what’s needed to compensate for depreciation.
This means that a full-scale disaster is on the way for Iran’s economy and its people.
Unfortunately, it must be said that with the JCPOA, the situation will improve but not to the extent suggested in that report, so even in the best scenario, our general condition will not be favorable, let alone in the worst scenarios.
