Aleppo International Airport Deactivated

Aleppo International Airport was deactivated

Following an airstrike attributed to Israel against Syria in the early hours of Monday, May 1st, a Syrian military source told the country’s official news agency that Aleppo International Airport has been deactivated.

The source added that one military personnel was killed, seven others, including two civilians, were injured, and other material damages were incurred in this attack.

According to this Syrian official, Israel targeted Aleppo International Airport and other locations in the city by launching missiles from the southeast of Aleppo.

According to regional media reports, the Safira area in Aleppo was also targeted by missile attacks. Several factories of the Syrian Ministry of Defense are located in Safira.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition group to Bashar al-Assad’s government that monitors developments in Syria from the UK, announced that the target of the attack was an ammunition depot at Aleppo Airport, which caught fire extensively and caused significant damage.
