Ali Mousavi becomes the new Iranian ambassador to the UK
Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, announced the selection of a new Iranian ambassador to the UK after about 3 years and stated that Ali Mousavi, the Director General of Legal Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, has been chosen as the new Iranian ambassador to the UK.
Esmail Baghaei emphasized that the process of appointing ambassadors is clear and called media speculations about ambassador appointments as media rumors, stating that we do not comment on media rumors and will announce it once it is finalized.
Ali Mousavi, the Director General of Legal Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, replaces Mohsen Baharvand, who spent a total of six months in London.
Mohsen Baharvand was dismissed in March 2022 following the reaction of hardliners in Iran to the presence of unveiled women at the anniversary ceremony of the 1979 revolution at the Iranian embassy in the UK.
