Announcement from Islamic Azad University regarding mandatory hijab: We are professors, not police officers
Continuing the government’s strict enforcement of mandatory hijab, the General Security Office of Islamic Azad University issued a notice asking professors to seriously manage the phenomenon of unveiling in their classrooms. The notice warned professors that they are responsible for students attending classes without hijab.
This notice was issued based on the Ministry of Science’s directive to deny student services to those without hijab, as well as the order from Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, the president of Islamic Azad University, and the university’s central organization on this matter.
Previously, on Monday, April 3rd, the Ministry of Education also announced in a statement that it would be unable to provide educational services to the few students who do not adhere to the dress code regulations in schools.
Judicial and law enforcement actions by the authorities of the Islamic Republic regarding hijab have intensified in April, and many Friday prayer leaders, senior officials, and even the leader of the Islamic Republic have emphasized dealing with those who refuse to comply with mandatory hijab.
