Araqchi has halted Tehran’s indirect negotiations with the U.S. mediated by Oman.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced during a visit to Muscat that Tehran has halted indirect negotiations with the U.S. mediated by Oman.
On Monday, October 15, Abbas Araqchi stated that the Muscat process has been halted due to the specific regional conditions and that Tehran currently sees no grounds for these talks until we get past the ongoing crisis.
The Foreign Minister’s reference in the government of Masoud Pezeshkian apparently points to Iran’s anticipation of a military response from Israel following the Islamic Republic of Iran’s missile attack on Israel on October 2.
Mr. Araqchi said that Oman has always played a positive role in conveying messages between Iran and the U.S., and this process also existed in the previous government, known as the Muscat process.
He added that after overcoming the current special conditions of the region, Tehran will decide whether or not to embark on a new endeavor or how to proceed. He did not mention possible topics for the new endeavor.
