Azari Jahromi: The Economic Inequality in the Country Is Not the Result of Neoliberal Thought

Azari Jahromi: The existing economic inequality in the country is not the result of neoliberalism.

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, the Minister of Communications in Hassan Rouhani’s government, wrote on his Telegram channel that some people are so eager to hashtag ‘No to Neoliberalism’ as if the country’s administration is currently drowning in neoliberal ideas, for example, as if the internet and the press are free or that we are among the top countries in the world in terms of economic freedom.

Azari Jahromi added in his Telegram post that the existing economic inequality in the country is not the result of neoliberalism but rather stems from the idea that everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.

The Minister of Communications of the twelfth government further wrote that he did not mention these points to endorse neoliberalism, and the reason for writing it will be discussed at another time.
