The United Nations General Assembly resolution demands that Iran immediately cease all acts of violence against peaceful protesters.
The United Nations General Assembly, through adopted resolutions, has called on Iran to immediately halt all forms of violence against peaceful protesters. This resolution has been condemned by Iran.
This resolution expresses concern about the significant increase in the number of executions, particularly targeting minority groups, and the disregard for the government’s duty to protect citizens, which is mandated by international laws.
The draft of this resolution was prepared by the Third Committee of the General Assembly, which focuses on social and humanitarian human rights issues.
During the adoption of this resolution, titled ‘The Situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran,’ the representative of Iran vehemently rejected its content and stated that countries with the worst human rights records are supporters of this resolution. This resolution was introduced with the support of Canada.
