Reporting a crime of online drug sales
The head of the Food and Drug Organization in Iran has stated that selling drugs to patients online and in virtual spaces is a crime.
He said that they have condemned and fined unauthorized platforms in this sector, but this action has not been deterrent.
Seyyed Heidar Mohammadi has said that we have no problem with online sales in the field of supplements and cosmetic and health products. Currently, 500 pharmacies have a license to sell supplements online, but drugs are not sold online anywhere in the world.
He says that there are currently no rules regarding online drug sales, and since selling drugs requires pharmaceutical consultation and explanations, it is not possible to send a pharmacist with every drug that goes to the patient’s home. Therefore, we do not enter this field because mistakes can be made.
Mr. Mohammadi emphasizes that it is the duty of the Food and Drug Organization to supervise authorized drug sales centers, and law enforcement and security agencies deal with unauthorized cases.
