Detention of one of the members of the Tehran Mayor’s Office
Mehdi Abbasi, in his remarks before his dismissal in the 144th session of the sixth term of the Tehran City Islamic Council, emphasized that no discrimination should be made in the fight against corruption. He stated that according to the statements of the Supreme Leader, someone who is tainted with corruption will not be able to combat corruption.
According to ILNA, he added that I was supposed to raise some issues about the incidents in the municipality before the holiday, but last night I found out that one of the members of the Tehran Mayor’s Office has been detained on financial charges.
Abbasi expressed that there are questions about who brought these individuals into the municipality and entrusted them with responsibilities, and what financial relationships these individuals have with others. He mentioned that similar incidents occurred last year when individuals from the Mayor’s Office were also detained.
A member of the Tehran City Council continued that there are individuals who have been coerced and subjected to injustice, and if deemed appropriate, they are willing to attend the council meeting to shed light on these incidents.
Abbasi emphasized that repeating falsehoods one after another may convince the public, but it is not convincing to me.
