Discovery of One Billion Barrels of Oil in Turkey
Turkish Petroleum Company TPAO has made the largest onshore oil discovery in Turkey, uncovering reserves of one billion barrels.
This discovery took place in the Sirnak province, located in southeastern Turkey, which borders the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq and Syria.
Currently, approximately 10,000 barrels of oil are being extracted per day from this well. However, the target is to produce 100,000 barrels per day, which is more than double Turkey’s current oil production.
