The EU’s foreign policy chief announced in a post on the X social network on Tuesday, 6 Farvardin, that he had asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic to make efforts to reduce tensions in the region during a phone call.

Josep Borrell wrote in the post that in a phone conversation with Hossein Amirabdollahian, I emphasized that the Iranian government should refrain from escalating nuclear tensions and should also release the detained European citizens as soon as possible.

He added that Europe’s concerns about the possible sale of Islamic Republic missiles to Russia were conveyed to Amirabdollahian.
