Economist: Poverty line in Tehran is 32 million Tomans

Vahid Mahmoudi, an economist and professor at the University of Tehran, stated that in 2021, the absolute poverty line for an urban household living in Tehran was 22 million and 220 thousand Tomans.

For a rural household living in the province of Tehran, it was 10 million and 800 thousand Tomans.

However, now based on this year’s approximately 45% annual inflation, the poverty line in the city of Tehran has reached 32 million Tomans.
