The Minister of Economy says the increase in the dollar rate has no economic factor.
The Minister of Economy stated that my colleagues’ analysis at the Central Bank does not suggest that the increase in the dollar rate has an economic factor and is different from these claims.
Economic experts believe that the increase in the dollar rate, which reached up to 58,000 tomans, cannot be solely due to political and military tensions in the region. Among the most important reasons for this renewed increase in the dollar rate are economic factors such as inflation. High inflation over 40% also affects commodities like the dollar. After 8 months of price stability, the spark of political tensions shows its impact on it, and likewise, the increase in the dollar rate also affects inflation.
This is why our country’s Minister of Economy announced in December this year that the condition for controlling inflation depends on the control of currency policies at the Central Bank. He told ILNA that the set of factors affecting the inflation rate includes long-term factors, which are mainly monetary and budgetary discipline and liquidity, and short-term factors, which are related to the exchange rate. All these factors are influential. The government’s effort is to control both long-term and short-term factors affecting inflation to achieve the target of a 25% liquidity growth ceiling in the year 1402.
About 3 months after these statements and with the increase in the dollar rate, Ehsan Khandozi, the Minister of Economy, said regarding the impact of this rise in the dollar rate on inflation control policies that the Central Bank’s effort is to return the dollar rate to previous prices, and the signs and behavior of the market in recent days have shown that the Central Bank’s actions have been effective.
He added that we are still hopeful that the previous forecast regarding inflation control in 1402 will be realized.
In response to the question that economic experts believe this increase in the dollar rate has an economic factor and there is a possibility of another increase, he emphasized that my colleagues’ analysis at the Central Bank does not suggest that the increase in the dollar rate has an economic factor and is different from these claims.
