Fire in Dubai Leaves 16 Dead

A fire in a residential complex in Dubai has left 16 dead and 9 injured. Indian media report that at least four of the victims of this large fire were Indian migrants in Dubai.

The fire occurred on the fourth floor of an apartment block in the Al-Ras neighborhood in the old part of the city on Saturday, April 15th.

The Dubai Emergency Management Department stated in a declaration that initial investigations indicate the fire was caused by failure to adhere to building safety and security requirements.

This city has previously experienced large fires that caused significant damage but resulted in few casualties.
