Government's Promise to Import Over 200,000 Cars in the New Year

Government’s promise to import over 200,000 cars in the new year

Mostafa Taheri, Chairman of the Parliament’s Industry and Mines Commission, said on Friday, April 11, that according to the government’s plan and what is outlined in the 2023 budget bill, the target for car imports in 2023 is over 200,000 vehicles.

The promise to import this number of cars in the new year comes while the Iranian government’s plan last year to import 100,000 cars was not successful, and so far, no imported cars have entered the Iranian market.

The Iranian government intends to compensate for the shortage of car supply in the market by importing cars, but the high price of imported cars for Iranian consumers is one of the challenges in supplying 200,000 imported cars in Iran.
