Heavy defeat of Esteghlal against Zob Ahan
In the eighth week of the Premier League, Esteghlal Tehran was defeated 3-0 by Zob Ahan Isfahan at the Shahr-e Qods Stadium.
Esteghlal’s Friday night loss is the heaviest home defeat for this team in the past 10 years of the league. In May 2015, under the management of Amir Ghalenoei, Esteghlal was defeated 4-1 by Tractor Sazi Tabriz.
The spectators present at the stadium chanted against Esteghlal’s managers after Zob Ahan’s first goal until the end of the match. They called Sardar Ahmad Shahriari, the chairman of the board, and Farshid Sami’i, the team’s CEO, brokers and demanded their removal from Esteghlal.
Esteghlal, which is using Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh as the interim head coach after Javad Nekounam’s resignation, remained in the eleventh place on the table with this heavy home defeat.
The Blues have suffered their third loss out of 7 matches and have a negative goal difference of 3.
Hossein Hosseini, the captain of Esteghlal, watched this match from the stands with his young child. Shahriari, the chairman of the board, prevented him from participating in the match.
