Historical Buildings in Isfahan Cracked Due to Land Subsidence

The historical buildings of Isfahan have cracked due to land subsidence.

In its Wednesday, June 7th issue, the Ham-Mihan newspaper reported on the ongoing land subsidence in Isfahan, stating that all areas of the city are affected by the problem and it has reached close to Isfahan’s historical landmarks.

The report mentions that due to drought and the decrease in underground water levels, the phenomenon of subsidence is advancing more rapidly and has reached the center of Isfahan.

An archaeology expert, who according to Ham-Mihan wished to remain anonymous, mentioned buildings such as the Hakim Mosque, Atiq, Shahshahan Mausoleum, Darb-e Imam Bathhouse, Vezir Mosque and Bathhouse, Ali Qoli Aqa Mosque and Bathhouse, and Seyyed Mosque as being affected by the subsidence.
