Hollywood Screenwriters’ Strike

According to an Associated Press report, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced on Twitter that it has prepared about eleven thousand five hundred members for a widespread strike, which will take place in front of Hollywood studios in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

This is the first widespread strike by Hollywood screenwriters in fifteen years. The screenwriters’ negotiations with major Hollywood studios were aimed at finding an alternative solution to cancel contracts that expired on May 1st over a three-year period.

Writers in the Hollywood entertainment world are demanding higher wages and a greater share of profits, considering the significant growth of streaming networks. So far, screenwriters have received a fixed annual salary from online platforms, despite series like ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Stranger Things’ achieving global success and having hundreds of millions of viewers.
