Import of 241 passenger cars to Iran in the first three months of the year
Iran’s customs has reported the import of 241 passenger cars into the country in the first three months of the year. The value of these cars has been estimated at 56 million dollars.
The majority of the imported cars include ambulances and passenger cars with the brands Zotye, Changan, and Benz.
Pars Khodro Company, with 90 imported cars valued at 966 thousand dollars, has had the largest share in this regard.
Recently, the Guardian Council in Iran approved the parliament’s resolution regarding the import of used cars.
Some hope that with increased imports and breaking the monopoly of major automakers, car prices in Iran will stabilize, although the imposition of heavy tariffs on imported cars will make such a prospect unlikely.
The import tariff for cars with engines of 1500 to 2000 cc has increased from 71 to 91 percent, for cars with engines of 2000 to 2500 cc from 91 to 131 percent, for cars with engines of 2500 to 3000 cc from 96 to 161 percent, and for cars over 3000 cc to 171 percent.
