In just one week, 178 people died due to accidents.
According to the statistics recorded in the special incident registration system, in the first week of Ordibehesht 1403, 578 special incidents were registered, which shows a 31% increase compared to the previous week from 25th to 31st Farvardin.
Babak Yektaparest, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Organization, in an interview with ILNA news agency, attributed 158 of these incidents to traffic accidents and 420 to non-traffic special incidents.
The spokesperson for the National Emergency Organization also reported that 178 people died due to the severity of injuries during the mentioned period.
According to the published statistics, the highest number of special traffic incidents belonged to Khorasan Razavi province with 16 incidents, followed by Tehran and Kerman provinces with 14 incidents each. Tehran province, with 47 injured and 7 fatalities, ranked second on this list compared to Kerman province, which had 85 injured and 2 fatalities.
The increase in the production of low-quality vehicles, human errors, and the country’s dangerous and unsafe roads play a significant role in the upward surge of these statistics.
