The Iranian Foreign Ministry: The Saudi embassy in Iran will reopen before the Hajj ceremony
Alireza Enayati, Director General of the Persian Gulf at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, told ISNA news agency that the Iranian government is working to reopen the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Riyadh and its consulate in Jeddah before the Hajj pilgrimage.
He stated that within the framework of the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to reopen each other’s embassies in Tehran and Riyadh and to reopen their consulates in the two cities of Mashhad and Jeddah, a delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived in Iran on Saturday, visited the site of the Saudi embassy in Tehran, and is also expected to visit other related locations, including the ambassador’s residence and the consulate in Mashhad.
Mr. Enayati added that based on what we received from our Saudi brothers, this delegation will take action to prepare for the reopening of the Saudi embassy and consulate in Tehran and Mashhad after returning to Riyadh.
He also said that on Iran’s part, two separate delegations are expected to go to Riyadh and Jeddah by the end of this week.
With the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Umrah pilgrimage, which had been halted, is expected to resume.
