The research institute of Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade is among the worst countries in terms of food inflation.
A research institution affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade has listed Iran alongside countries like Zimbabwe among the five countries with the highest food inflation in the world.
The Institute for Trade Studies and Research, affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade of the Islamic Republic, reported in a publication titled ‘Food Inflation and Policy Experiences of Countries,’ which is available on the institute’s website, that Iran is among the worst countries both in terms of nominal and real food price inflation.
According to this report, Iran experienced a nominal inflation rate of 73% from March 2022 to March 2023, equivalent to Farvardin 1401 to Farvardin 1402 in the Iranian calendar, making it the worst country in the world after Lebanon, Zimbabwe, and Argentina.
Amid ongoing rampant inflation and the mismatch between incomes and the inflation rate, labor protests, especially those by workers, have resumed from the early days of this year and continue to persist.
