JCPOA Negotiations Continue

The JCPOA negotiations continue.

Robert Malley, who has recently condemned the death of Mahsa Amini and supported the Iranian people’s protests in his statements, met with Qatari officials last week to initiate a new round of JCPOA negotiations. Following these discussions, the special Iranian negotiation team headed to Qatar.

The Biden administration’s efforts to lay the groundwork for resuming the JCPOA continue. This is happening while the U.S. has conveyed to the Iranian side that there is no rush for the final signing of the Vienna agreement. Iran’s position in international relations has been weakened due to its alignment and obedience to Russia on one hand, and recent domestic events on the other, giving the U.S. and its allies the upper hand.
