Kayhan’s Anger Over the Possible Approval of FATF

Why Are You Going Around and Beating the Drum for FATF?

The Kayhan newspaper was angered by Mohammad Sadr’s statements about the necessity of approving FATF in the Expediency Council and the possibility of Raisi supporting its approval, and wrote:

The blind and deaf defense by some reformists of the necessity for unilateral cooperation with FATF comes at a time when, despite the previous government’s complete cooperation in implementing 37 out of 41 clauses of the FATF action plan, it resulted in self-sanctioning and handing over the paths to circumvent sanctions to the enemy. Not only were the sanctions not reduced, but their number increased. For this reason, when high-ranking officials of the country asked Mr. Zarif if he could guarantee the removal of sanctions by implementing the remaining four commitments, he responded that there was no guarantee.

In this context, while Westerners insist on kicking the corpse of the JCPOA anew every day, some self-proclaimed reformists do not explain based on which event or new change they are once again going around and beating the drum for FATF.
